ropz joins mousesports — Spiidi steps down

1
Timo "Spiidi" Richter leaves his mousesports seat for Robin "ropz" Kool to make his entry to professional Counter-strike.
Robin "ropz" Kool has been a hot topic ever since qualifying for Faceit Pro League, FPL, where he's delivered strong performances against some of the best players in the world. On Wednesday, he took the leap from being a good amateur to becoming a professional player as he has joined mousesports.

"Today marks the day I start my pro career which I am extremely excited for. I'm really happy to start this journey with mousesports, one of the best international CS:GO teams out there currently. I am very motivated to work hard and prove myself to everyone out there. We as a team are determined to become a top contender and do our best. #vamouz.", ropz says via mousesports' website.

Leaving his seat for the Estonian 17-year-old is Timo "Spiidi" Richter, who has had a rough year result wise. After a poor performance at the Eleague Major, he felt a lack of motivation leading to him stepping down.

The team played their debut yesterday, where they faced EnVyUs in ESL Pro League. In the first of the two matches, mousesports won with 16-8 on Cobblestone, with ropz delivering the most frags on the entire server. The second map was a bit closer, but also resulted in a win for the German organization.

While being good at CS:GO, the new mousesports recruit has been questioned time and time again, both by amateurs as well as professional players. People, like the Fnatic superstar Jesper "JW" Wecksell, found it a bit odd that the youngster didn't take a year off from school to at least try out the world of professional CS:GO. However, ropz answered that he didn't like the though of leaving his studies for something that isn't a guarantee.

The Estonian talent still has this mindset, which is one of the reasons he picked mousesports over offers from both North America and other parts of Europe. To HLTV.org he tells that mousesports' schedule suits him perfectly, and allows him to keep studying whilst competing.

Counter-Strike teams have traditionally been run by the players themselves, with the star players and the in-game leader often having the most say in personnel decisions. The routine stems from the days when a team comprised nothing but five players and perhaps a manager-figure, in charge of seeking sponsorships. As the game has evolved to the point where the top players all make six-figures in guaranteed salary and millions of dollars are paid out annually in prize money, little has changed.
