NiP fail to advance past the PGL Kraków Major's closed qualifier

1
Following a poor showing on the opening day of the European closed qualifier for the PGL Kraków Major, Swedish legends Ninjas in Pyjamas found themselves eliminated after a one-sided beating from the Turkish Space Soldiers line-up.
Considered to be one of the best teams in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive history, NiP were decimated by Can "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş's Turkish squad in the European closed qualifier. Having narrowly escaped elimination on the previous day of games, after losing to both iGame.com and Red Reserve, this result now means that NiP will be missing both Valve Majors of 2017, as the team was also unable to qualify for the ELEAGUE Major earlier this year.

Sverige NiP vs. Turkiet Space Soldiers

NiP's only victory throughout the closed qualifier came against Swedish rivals Epsilon, who NiP defeated in an extremely close game on Train. Winning only one out of four maps, yesterday's result comes in what can now only be considered the team's worst-ever streak of performances. Despite acquiring William "draken" Sundin back in March, following their poor result at the offline qualifiers for the ELEAGUE Major, the team still seems to be stuck in a slump that's lasted since December last year, and are now arguably in an even more precarious position.

What this result means for NiP is uncertain, but it is clear that the legendary Swedish squad has a lot of thinking to do ahead of the next Valve Major.

With numbers gaining ground on evaluating Counter-Strike players, many have become more and more wary of trusting them. Fans and analysts vocally prefer what is commonly referred to as the eye test – simply watching the game. Sounds fair, because intuitively it makes sense that watching a game will give you more information to go by than a set of numbers supposed to wrap up everything that took place on the server. But what if it's not so simple?
