Hulu hops on the esports train

1
ESL are looking for more ways to reach their audience away from the big stage.

News has today surfaced that ESL and Hulu have "struck a deal for Exclusive Esports Content."
This new agreement is said to include four new series focused on esports and is the first time the content giant has dipped into the scene. The new series titles are Player v Player, Bootcamp, Defining Moments and ESL Replay and are set to premier "later this fall".

A brief description of each new series:

Player v Player

A debate show based around games featuring casters and personalities from the esports scene having their say on the big topics. Panellists gain points during the debate and face each other in a final challenge over a classic video game.

Bootcamp

A weekly docu-series that follows the Immortals CSGO organisation as they rebuild their roster leading up to IEM Oakland. This series hopes to show a unique side of player acquisition including player testing and trials. The final stretch of the series will see the newly formed roster attempt to gel together and form a cohesive unit ready to take on the opposition.

Defining Moments

Defining Moments will take a look at some of the most important and formative moments in esports history, recruiting analysts and personalities to give their experience and views. The episodes will be based around a theme of the week from rivalries to controversial moments. Bringing interviews with the people who lived the moments themselves, the show hopes to give an in depth insight into the moments that built the scene we have today.

ESL Replay

Finally ESL Replay is exactly what it sounds like, recaps and replays of past tournaments, including a never-before-seen look behind the curtain of the tournaments that never made it to the original broadcasts. Each episode of Replay will be aired within a week of the live event itself.

CS:GO saw a significant increase in prize money distributed during the bigger tournaments throughout 2016. But the promising development has taken a toll, with prize money stagnating during 2017, and we might even see a decrease in the total amount of money being paid out from tournaments.

In early 2016, I drew parallels between the record-breaking 2010 Natus Vincere roster and the Brazilian Luminosity team, which is now known as SK Gaming. Today, I am going to compare the 2009 fnatic team – who were knocked off their throne by that same Na`Vi squad mentioned earlier – to the restructured Faze team, featuring the deadly duo of olofmeister and GuardiaN.
