ESL Pro League S6 Finals — SK Gaming take down Faze in an epic!

The 'dream grand final' for the ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals will see the best two teams in the world, go head to head for the title, an extra $125,000 and their second victory in the quest for the Intel Grand Slam.
The current world number one, SK Gaming take on Faze Clan, the world number two over potentially five maps. Those maps are Inferno, Overpass, Mirage, Train and Cache.

The game plays host to many mini story-lines within, with the battle of the in-game leaders Finn "karrigan" Andersen against Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo, with the Dane currently having never beaten the Brazilian in 8 attempts off-line. Then we also have the, arguably, best players in the world, Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and Marcelo "coldzera" David also coming up against each other.

The game everyone has been waiting for gets underway with Faze on the T side, Inferno is not a map that the Brazilians are particularly comfortable on with it being statistically one of their worst maps. However they manage to keep the scoreline close on their CT side, with it ending 8-7 to FaZe at the half time point. A closer map than might have been expected, but the mixed European team are able to take it 16 rounds to 13 in the end.

Next up is Overpass, karrigan has lost against FalleN's teams 9 times on this map, so will be hoping he can overcome that here. He steps up in the 6th round, denying the bomb plant and secures 4 kills to win his team the round. The opening half is split once again, 8-7 to Faze, unbelievably close with some big plays, and some chaos thrown into the mix. The CT-Side of SK Gaming shows why it was their map pick, taking the win 16-11 as the series is reset with one map a piece.

The third map of the series is Mirage with Faze starting on the T side of their map choice. But they simply are no match for SK Gaming, who are able to completely shut down Faze's star player NiKo in the first half and are able to build up a strong 13-2 lead. The European side attempt to mount a come back in the second half, but they left themselves with too much to do and the Brazilians are able to take the map, 16-9, and the lead in the series.

If SK Gaming are able to take their map pick of Train, then they will take the title without the need for the fifth and final map. The opening of the match makes it look like this is likely to be the case, with Faze finding opening kills in 5 out of 7 rounds but not converting those into round wins. However after being able to pick up their first round in the ninth, Faze are able to close out the rest of the half and start their come back. Picking up the pistol and the ensuing gun rounds gives the Europeans the base to mount a comeback on the CT side.

It looked like the game was out of Faze's reach, Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács is left in a one vs two with only a CZ-75, if he doesn't win the round, the map and game goes to his opponents. He kills the first player, with his last bullets as the defuse is happening in the smoke. He looks to the sky as his chance has passed, before switching to his knife and rushing into the smoke, connecting with the enemy he clutches the round! The momentum from this allows Faze to take the map to overtime. After all the drama, overtime is taken by the Brazilians of SK Gaming 4 rounds to 1.

Which sees FalleN don his 'bad FalleN' glasses to lift the huge trophy with his team!
