ECS Season 4 Finals — Faze win the Grand Final over Mousesports

1
The ECS Season 4 Grand Final, taking place at the Hard Rock Hotel in Cancun, Mexico sees the team ranked second in the world, taking on the team in sixteenth place.
This is the Grand Final in the last main event in the 2017 Counter-Strike calendar, and gives one of either Faze Clan or Mousesports the chance to end the year with the ultimate high, a trophy.

Both sized boast mixed European rosters, with 9 different nationalities out of the 10 players taking part in the final match.

The first map is that chosen by the Mousesports side, Nuke, where they start off on the Counter-Terrorist side. The map has been played three times at this event so far, each time it has been Mousesports who emerged victorious, and the Grand Final is to be no different. A big performance on the first half saw mousesports take a 11-4 lead over their opponents into the second half; but Faze Clan are not a team to take that laying down, and almost took the game into overtime with an 10-5 CT side of their own. It was down to a 3k from Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný securing his team the map 16-14, who finished with 31 kills and an ADR of 108.3.

As we move onto Faze's map choice of Inferno, Mousesports get the game underway on the Terrorist side, and take the first five rounds, including three kills with the AWP by Chris "chrisJ" de Jong. Faze are able to do better and pick up seven rounds in a row of their own, before Mousesports are able to claim the final three rounds of the half as their own to take the narrow 8-7 lead.

The second half is a back and forth affair after Faze take the pistol round, but lose the following two. A crazy situation in the 25th round sees Robin "ropz" Kool pick up three kills with the AWP, and straight onto the defuse which Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer denies by pushing through a smoke with an UMP, taking down Kool's teammate, but interrupts the defuse which causes the bomb to explode taking the score to 12-13. Faze are able to use their economical advantage to take the two rounds following. This map is as tight as they come, and goes right down to the wire, as the game goes to overtime.

The first round of overtime is won by Mousesports as they manage to run down the clock, who take the one round lead into the second half of the first overtime. Three kills from Håvard "rain" Nygaard helps to take his team into the second overtime. A bridge too far for Mousesports, as Faze take it to the third map of Mirage.

Starting on the CT side Faze Clan pick up the first three rounds before Mousesports are successful in their buy round, and keep that going to take six rounds in total before reply. Miikka "suNny" Kemppi picks off four players with a deagle to win the 13th round to make it 7-6. Faze are able to secure their seventh round, as its 8-7 at the halftime break. The second half pistol also goes the way of the Faze Clan, but an impressive performance from Kemppi in this half also sees him pick up 31 kills by the 22nd round, with his team with a narrow 11-10 lead.

Faze clan manage to put the highest number of rounds together that they've managed on this map, and take it to 13-14, before Mousesports take a tactical time out to try to reset themselves mentally. As with the two maps before it, Mirage goes the distance, as we move into the 30th round, with Faze one round ahead, meaning Mousesports have to take it to Overtime if they are to get the result they desire. 37 kills for Kemppi in the 30 regulation rounds helps his team take it to overtime.

This time around just the one Overtime is needed as Faze are able to shut down Mousesports and take the series 2-1!

Faze Clan are the ECS Season 4 Finals Champions!
