Eleague Boston Major — The New Challengers Day One Complete

1
The first day of the Eleague Boston Major has come to an end and our sixteen teams are split into two groups, those who are 1-0 and those who are 0-1.
The first match of the day saw the first, albeit minor, upset with Renegades losing to Vega Squadron in extremely close fashion. The main stars for the Renegades side didn't achieve their full potential in too late into the game, causing their comeback to fall short at 14-16.

In the second, Mousesports took a shaky game against Avangar, with Timur "Buster" Tulepov and Alexey "qikert" Golubev in particular showing some impressive moments during the match.

The third game of the day Faze Clan made it seemingly unnecessarily difficult for themselves against the weakened Team Liquid. The North American side, with coach as a stand-in, had a great chance against a Faze side on a weak force buy, to make the score 15-14 and push on to win the match. Instead however, they pushed into the connector on Overpass where the Faze pistols and shotgun were waiting to punish them, as it was the Europeans who instead took the match 16-14.

The most straightforward game of the day was Misfits crushing the Flipsid3 Tactics side, 16-4, as their french duo lead the way to victory.

One of the matches hardest to predict at the start of the day, however still an upset to most, saw Sprout take down Space Soldiers. It was Sprout who got the map pick, of Cobble, with Space Soldiers picking side. The first half was a close 6-9 in favour of the Turkish side, however the second half saw the mostly German side blow them away 10-2 to take the match 16-11. Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş performed as usual, however his team ultimately failed to back him up.

Next it was the turn of Natus Vincere and Quantum Bellator Fire giving us the second most straightforward game of the day. Again a close first half saw Natus Vincere take an 8-7 lead on the Terrorist side of Inferno, and then proceed to take the second half 8-1. As expected Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev topped the scoreboard with an ADR over 100 and a rating of 1.75.

Second to last we had Flash Gaming give G2 Esports a scare taking a 9-2 lead on their T half of Inferno before G2 pulled it back to a 9-6 half. In the second half the French side opened by losing two more rounds before taking 10 straight to complete the 16-11 victory, with a little more trouble than expected.

Finally what should, on paper, probably have been the closest game of the day Cloud9 taking on Team Envyus. The first half, on Cache, did not reflect this however as the all American side ended their CT side with an 11-4 lead. The French side tried their best to work it back in the second half, but it was too little too late and with some heroics from the likes of Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham the Cloud9 side took it 16-11.
