cs_summit 2 Day Two complete — Ninjas in Pyjamas and Vega Squadron head home

1
The second day of the cs_summit 2 has come to an end and with it two teams are heading home.
The first match of the day was not an elimination match, instead it saw SK Gaming and North battle to see who would go straight through to an upper bracket final and who would drop to the lower bracket games. The series scoreline could easily deceive you, with the Brazilians taking a 2-0 victory and progressing to the upper bracket final. It was not plain sailing however, as not only did the first map Cobblestone go to 16-13, but the second of Inferno took an overtime scoreline of 22-20 to decide it.

Second on the agenda was deciding who would join SK Gaming in the upper bracket final. A North American derby saw Team Liquid take on Cloud9. Another 2-0, this time with some less close scorelines including a 16-4 first map, Cobblestone, allowing Cloud9 to take the series. The second map of Mirage was a more redeeming showing for Team Liquid, however not enough to save them slipping down to the lower bracket.

The first of two elimination matches was next, between Torqued and Vega Squadron. One team showed everyone their claws yet again at the Major, whilst one team wasn't even supposed to be attending the event. It was much closer than expected however as the maps ended 16-13 and 16-14, but what was even more unexpected is the fact they both ended in favour of Torqued. Joshua "steel" Nissan lead the scoreboard on both maps for his team, averaging 107.8 ADR over the two maps. With that Vega Squadron head back home and back to the drawing board whilst Torqued survive to see another day in the lower bracket.

Finally, Ninjas in Pyjamas or Heroic would be joining Vega Squadron on the one stop trip out of the tournament. The first map saw Heroic take 8 rounds on both their Terrorist and Counter Terrorist half of Train, and the map 16-11. Ninjas in Pyjamas fired back in the second, Inferno, however after a 9-6 Terrorist half was capitalised on with a 7-1 Counter Terrorist half, winning 16-7. Third and finally Ninjas in Pyjamas took a 10-5 lead into their Terrorist side of Nuke, and after taking the pistol led 13-5. A Heroic comeback saw them take 11 second half rounds to secure victory 14-16 and knock out the Swedish side 2-1.

The upper bracket final on Day Three will see Cloud9 take on SK Gaming for the first spot in the Grand Final, whilst two more elimination matches in the lower bracket will take place, Team Liquid vs Torqued and North vs Heroic.
