The cs_summit 2 Champions are Team Liquid!

The final day of cs_summit 2 in Los Angeles, USA has come to an end. The Grand Final saw Major Champions Cloud 9 take on Team Liquid, with Keith "NAF" Markovic making his competitive debut, in a best-of-five.
The day started out with SK Gaming taking on Team Liquid in a best-of-three for the spot in the grand final where they would meet Cloud9.

The first map was Cobblestone with Liquid on the CT side where they put up an excellent defense, closing out the first half 13:2. The Brazilians however were not willing to take this domination laying down, they manage to fight back and force the game into overtime, despite Liquid earning five match points. Overtime saw the NA team regain their composure and win the map 19:17.

Next up was Team Liquid's map choice of Train, which SK would have to take in order to stay in the tournament. The player with the most KAST in the server is the newest player to join Liquid, Keith "NAF" Markovic with 92.6% KAST, as his team emerge victorious 16 rounds to 11, shocking the Brazilians, and eliminating them from the event.


Cloud9 start the Grand Final out with a 1:0 map advantage as they came from the upper bracket. The technical 'second' map is Train, which is a close fought battle with each side going 8:7 on their CT side, causing the game to go into overtime. Overtime seems to be Team Liquid's forte today as they are able to take the win 19:17 to even the final out, 1 map each.

The third map is set to be Mirage, with Liquid starting out on the CT side. They are able to pick up 9 rounds in the first half, but it is their T side on which they excel, limiting their opponents to just 2 rounds as they pick up the victory with all of their players going positive.

Onto the fourth map of Cache, the first we have seen at this event, sees a crazy play from Jake "Stewie2k" Yip in the second round, he picks up a deagle from the floor, it has 2 bullets left, with 3 people rushing at him. He is able to pick up a collateral with the first bullet and then get the kill on the third. The momentum from this nutty play enabled Cloud9 to win every other round in the half bar one, taking a 13:2 lead onto their T side. Team Liquid found their footing in the second half and were able to fight back being able to pick up 9 rounds in total, but they could not manage to overcome the large lead their opponents had built up, and fell 16:11.

That loss means all the maps were required to determine who would be taking home the trophy. It all comes down to Overpass, with the Major Champions starting on the T side, hoping to continue their winning ways here. The third round sees Will "RUSH" Wierzba pick up three kills with the deagle. The very back and forth first half, which ended 9:6 in favour of Liquid.

Cloud9 pick up the pistol, and the following two rounds before Liquid can take their first two rounds. It is once again a close battle, but Liquid are able to get four more rounds on the board taking themselves to Championship point. Nick "nitr0" Cannella picks up a 3 kill to secure the victory for Team Liquid. 16:10.
