Just under three months has passed since G2 Esports
won the latest installment of Dreamhack Masters Malmö, which was the second to be held in the Swedish city. Today, Dreamhack has announced the return of the Masters concept next fall, but this time there has been a change when it comes to the host city. Stockholm, capital of Sweden and the home of the Dreamhack office, will host next years Masters tournament, with the famous Ericsson Globe being the venue.
Like previous installments on Swedish soil, Dreamhack Masters Stockholm will feature 16 teams and a prize pool of USD 250,000. The tournament is divided into a group stage that will be played without a crowd and the finishing playoffs, live inside the spherical Ericsson Globe. Dreamhack Masters is the Swedish tournament organizers event fully focusing on the arena experience. Dreamhack is hoping that Masters Stockholm will help them further in developing the concept to bring innovative tournaments to the viewers.
A reason as to why Dreamhack Masters now will enter Stockholm, except the cities long history of esports, is the two new partners, Stockholm Live, a major arena operator, owned by the international company AEG, and Stockholm City. "Stockholm is one of the world's most important tech cities, and we have established ourselves as a prominent event city. We have a long tradition of esports that we are now building on."

Dreamhack Masters Stockholm will open August 29th, with the tournament heading into Ericsson Globe on the weekend of September 1-2. Tickets will be on sale starting February 28th at 10 am CET.
